Slash (Self-titled) by Slash (solo)

The album was produced by Eric Valentine and features multiple musicians including four of the five members of the Appetite for Destruction era Guns N’ Roses lineup: Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler.

This album has its pros and cons. Slash, being such a legend in the guitar world, has contributed very little in terms of solos and riffs. Infact, the only riff based track on this album is By the Sword(featuring Andrew Stockdale from Wolfmother). There are other songs in this album which are completely unbearable to listen to if you're a true Slash fan, like the one featuring Fergie on vocals. I mean Fergie? Really, wtf was Slash thinking? Songs like Gotten(featuring Adam Levine from Maroon5) is too pop based for Slash fans (like me). Each song on this album sounds like a song from the singers band/project. Songs featuring Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmeister and songs featuring Dave Grohl/Duff McKagan(instrumental) have some good solos in them but apart from those to songs Slash hasn't really put out solos in any other songs. A good album for people who just like to listen to 'good music' and don't care about the artist. As for a Slash fan like me, this album doesn't really have much to offer apart from 2-3 songs. An okay album overall.

Tests and Saturnus

I got a fucking test tomorrow and I'm listening to Veronika Decides to Die by Saturnus. So, does this mean that I don't care about my test? No, it means Saturnus fucking owns.

La Villa Strangiato by Rush.

La Villa Strangiato by Rush. This band is my favorite band of all time. I religiously follow this band, and. Alex Lifeson is one of the greatest guitarist of this century. He plays a guitar solo in La Villa Strangiato, and I'm not exaggerating this by any means, but the solo was in my opinion, so well played, that Stairway to Heaven literally seems like childs play in front of it. I'm not being biased, this is completely a neutral way of looking at it. Even the studio version has the solo starting at about 3:40 into the song. This song is a 10minute wonder with many mood changes and changes in time signatures. The band plays it live in one go, but the studio version had to be broken down into three parts. Like Stairway to Heaven, this band, let alone the song never got any recognition, but a devoted fan like me would not let this guitar solo go by unnoticed by other people out there. I suggest you youtube it or download it or whatever, but you have to check it out.

White Tomb by Altar of Plagues

Introduction to the band :- 'Altar of Plagues' is an Irish ambient/post/progressive black metal band. They are a four-piece and got recognition through their EPs and Demos. They released their first studio album in April 2009 on Profound Lore Records.

White Tomb :- Their debut album, impressed me quite a bit with their ambient rhythms and harsh vocals. The album is divided into two titles - 'Earth' and 'Through the Collapse' with two songs under each titles. Their first track under Earth, 'As a womb' is a mixture of heavy drumming interspersed harsh vocals and heavy rhythms in between. I would describe it as 12minutes of pure, unadulterated progressive black metal. Their second track 'As a furnace' is pretty much a mixture of Burzum + Agalloch in one track, with the ambience of Burzum and heaviness of Agalloch, it makes my favorite track on the album. The next two tracks under 'Through The Collapse' are very similar. They are heavy and raw with obscure-sounding vocals in between tracks. This album is a great black metal package, with some great sounds and vocals.

I would totally recommend this one for all Black Metal loving fans out there !
